Former 'Baywatch' star Pamela Anderson arrived in Mumbai late Monday amid media frenzy, resulting in a scuffle at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here. The 43-year-old, who has travelled all the way from Los Angeles to be a guest on Colors' reality show 'Bigg Boss 4', was dressed casually in a grey ganji top with a plunging neckline, and a pair of jeans.

She even sported aviators and left her trademark blonde hair open, as she came out of the airport at 10.50 p.m. - more than two hours later than the scheduled time of her arrival. Even though it was raining, several media persons waited with their still and video cameras to catch a glimpse of Pamela. As soon as she moved out of the airport, all hell broke loose as media persons surrounded her, blocking every way to her car.

Despite the heavy security and five brawny bouncers, Pamela was pushed back to a glass wall of the airport. The scenario became so out of control that she had to turn back inside and move out from a different exit. In the meantime, a scuffle also broke out between a photographer and a policeman, following which, a few other media persons retaliated as well. Other travellers ended up facing the brunt of the frenzy as they weren't able to leave the airport unless the actress did.

Pamela will be entering the 'Bigg Boss 4' house in Lonavala Tuesday morning. She will stay with other housemates for three days, and is expected to boost the oomph factor on the show by leaps and bounds. She has been reportedly paid Rs.2.5 crore for her stint on the show, and she is very 'excited'.
I found an interesting article today which sums up most of the acryonyms involved in wireless networks and wireless security and explain them all in brief.

It may clear things up for some people who get overwhelmed by all the jargon, especially with the recent news hitting the mainstream about WPA being partially cracked.

Users have every right to be perplexed by wireless security standards. Faced by an alphabet soup of AES, RADIUS, WEP, WPA, TKIP, EAP, LEAP and 802.1x, many users dont secure their wireless networks at all. Now that earlier wireless security standards such as Wi-Fi Protected Access and Wired Equivalent Privacy are being cracked, its time to examine what all the terms mean and think about changes.

Just about a month ago, in early November, the news came out that the first cracks were appearing in WPA, or Wi-Fi Protected Access, a very popular wireless security standard. The compromise that was accomplished by some researchers was not a real killer, but the affected version of WPA (and the associated encryption process, TKIP, or Temporal Key Integrity Protocol), was always meant as a stopgap standard.

So here you go, the acronyms, hope its useful to someone :)

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)The old, original, now discredited wireless security standard. Easily cracked.

WEP 40/128-bit key, WEP 128-bit PassphraseSee WEP. The user key for WEP is generally either 40- or 128-bit, and generally has to be supplied as a hexadecimal string.

WPA, WPA1Wi-Fi Protected Access. The initial version of WPA, sometimes called WPA1, is essentially a brand name for TKIP. TKIP was chosen as an interim standard because it could be implemented on WEP hardware with just a firmware upgrade.

WPA2The trade name for an implementation of the 802.11i standard, including AES and CCMP.

TKIPTemporal Key Integrity Protocol. The replacement encryption system for WEP. Several features were added to make keys more secure than they were under WEP.

AESAdvanced Encryption Standard. This is now the preferred encryption method, replacing the old TKIP. AES is implemented in WPA2/802.11i.

Dynamic WEP (802.1x)When the WEP key/passphrase is entered by a key management service. WEP as such did not support dynamic keys until the advent of TKIP and CCMP.

EAPExtensible Authentication Protocol. A standard authentication framework. EAP supplies common functions and a negotiation mechanism, but not a specific authentication method. Currently there are about 40 different methods implemented for EAP. See WPA Enterprise.

802.1x, IEEE8021XThe IEEE family of standards for authentication on networks. In this context, the term is hopelessly ambiguous.

LEAP, 802.1x EAP (Cisco LEAP)(Lightweight Extensible Authentication Protocol) A proprietary method of wireless LAN authentication developed by Cisco Systems. Supports dynamic WEP, RADIUS and frequent reauthentication.

WPA-PSK, WPA-Preshared KeyUse of a shared key, meaning one manually set and manually managed. Does not scale with a large network either for manageability or security, but needs no external key management system.

RADIUSRemote Authentication Dial In User Service. A very old protocol for centralizing authentication and authorization management. The RADIUS server acts as a remote service for these functions.

WPA Enterprise, WPA2 EnterpriseA trade name for a set of EAP types. Products certified as WPA Enterprise or WPA2 Enterprise will interoperate (EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS/MSCHAPv2, PEAPv0/EAP-MSCHAPv2, PEAPv1/EAP-GTC & EAP-SIM)

WPA-Personal, WPA2-PersonalSee Pre-Shared Key.
WPA2-MixedSupport for both WPA1 and WPA2 on the same access point.

802.11i[/COLOR][/SIZE][/B]An IEEE standard specifying security mechanisms for 802.11 networks. 802.11i uses AES and includes improvements in key management, user authentication through 802.1X and data integrity of headers.

CCMPCounter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol. An encryption protocol that uses AES.

Enjoy!
A blast of white-hot lightning crackles over Iceland's Eyjafjallajökull volcano on Sunday. Clouds of volcanic ash from Eyjafjallajokull have snarled European air traffic for nearly a week.

National Geographic Your Shot submitter Peter Vancoillie took the photograph from about 18 miles (30 kilometers) away from the volcanic lightning storm, which not "unlike a regular old thunderstorm," said Martin Uman, a lightning expert at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The same ingredients are present: water droplets, ice, and possibly hail—all interacting with each other and with particles, in this case ash from the eruptions, to cause electrical charging, Uman said.

The volcanic-lightning pictures are 'really very sensational,' Uman said. 'Somebody ought to be up there with an HD movie camera—it's ready for the IMAX theater.'

Italian photographer and scientist Marco Fulle flew at sunset on Sunday over Iceland's erupting Eyjafjallajokull volcano to capture this picture of purple lightning bolts streaking through the sky.

Much of the lightning generated by the Iceland volcano is better termed long sparks, said the University of Florida's Uman. Those may include a new type of lightning recently found over an Alaska volcano.

It's unknown how such sparks form, though one possibility is that electrically charged silica-an ingredient of magma-interacts with the atmosphere when it bursts out of Earth's crust, Steve McNutt of the Alaska Volcano Observatory said in February.

Fiery lava mixes with blue ash and golden lightning over the erupting Eyjafjallajokull volcano in an April 18, 2010, picture.

The Iceland volcano's lightning is probably creating distinct symphony of sounds, said the University of Florida's Uman. For instance, small sparks of about 30 feet (9 meters) to about 300 yards (91 meters) make sounds like rifle shots, while the miles-long bolts produce the deep, familiar rumbling we associate with thunderstorms, he explained.
Pictured Sunday, lightning at the Eyjafjallajokull volcano branches off in many directions-an interesting phenomenon, according to the University of Florida's Uman.

Every bolt has a direction that it travels, Uman explained: A spark begins in electrically charged spot and then travels either up, down, or sideways until it reaches an oppositely charged area.

Spurts of lava mix with lightning over Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano on Sunday.

National Geographic Your Shot submitter Oli Haukur Myrdal captured the electrifying light show.

All types of lightning, particularly volcanic lightning, are still largely mysteries to scientists, University of Florida's Uman said.

Since people can't easily get inside thunder and lightning storms, no one knows exactly how they form, he said. However, scientists can install instruments near volcanoes' vents to measure certain data, such as the lightning-detection devices that scientists are installing right now in Iceland, he said.

Lightning pierces the erupting volcano's ash cloud in a National Geographic Your Shot photograph taken by Olivier Vandeginste on Sunday.

Inhaling the tiny pieces of glassy sand and dust in the cloud can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, say experts who advise Europeans to stay indoors when the ash begins to fall. Finer particles can also penetrate deep into the lungs and cause breathing problems, particularly among those with respiratory issues like asthma or emphysema.

But if people could witness the volcanic lightning safely, it would be an incredible experience, Uman said.

'Everyone would want to see that,' Uman said. 'It's like going to see aurora borealis near the North Pole-it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.'
These are bold, colourful, chunky and elegant and lots of women are going in for them because they are better than wearing lots of things that no one notices.'

Among popular broad cuffs are those in silver, gold, diamond, Swarovski and coloured stones such as sapphire, emerald and ruby. For those who like an Indian regal touch, they are available in kundan as well.

While the starting cost of silver cuffs is Rs.1,500, for gold it could start at Rs.30,000 and one can end up paying a steep price depending upon the weight of gold and pure stones used as embellishments.

In India, broad cuffs in gold with ethnic designs are usually passed on as heirloom from one generation to another. 'Pure gold broad cuffs can be very expensive. When people in India buy these cuffs for weddings, they mostly go in for ones in kundan, polki, enamel or stones so that they look dressy,' says jewellery designer Anjali Sikka Sikka.

However, the college-going youngsters don't go for expensive stuff. A lot of them who like to be in vogue without burning a hole in the pocket are going in for stylish broad cuffs in metal and wood.

According to Suman, a spokesperson of exclusive jewellery brand Amrapali, broad cuffs with Indian motifs and designs, especially gold plated ones and silver ones have become immensely popular among international buyers, including tourists.

A word of advice about wearing broad cuffs though. 'The broader these are, the better it is. And every woman must ensure that when she is wearing this piece, she shouldn't wear earrings or just wear small studs and no other excess jewellery like rings, necklace - these should be avoided.

Always wear one huge thing with subdued clothing instead of wearing lots of things. That will do the trick of making you stand out in a crowd.

The world's smallest house that barely is big enough to swing a cat round, is up for sale in Canada. The 'Little House' of Toronto, measuring seven feet by 47 feet, has three rooms and a normal sized bathtub.

It also has a front drive to park two family sized cars, the 'Daily Mail' reported. The living area and TV room of the 312-square foot house are just seven feet wide. The building that has enough room for two has a compact kitchen and a wee back garden too. It also has a decent sized basement for storage space and its ceiling is 2.36 mts high.

According to real estate agent Antonio Nardi: "The interior of the house seems much more expansive than the small exterior. It has a full bathroom, a kitchen and a decent sized bedroom with a fold up bed that gives more room when up. This is a great and historic purchase."

Built in 1912, the Little Home has become a celebrity in its own right over the past 98 years. It has developed a cult following and even has its own website. In the estate agents guide, it is described as an 'unique home in good condition overall and has been well maintained'.

Ever since the tiny house went on the market, it has been viewed almost 40 times. It is priced at 110,000 pounds inthe property market.

San Francisco: Online payments' service Paypal has halted personal payments to India following new government regulations that were designed to crack down on money laundering.

Paypal Monday did not cite a specific reason for the suspension apart from concerns raised by PayPal's "business partners and stakeholders". The company noted that commercial payments to merchants in India would continue as normal.

The move is expected to have a serious impact on the thousands of Indian freelancers who are paid via Paypal for web design, writing and software development, PC World reported.

The move is reportedly related to the Indian government's crackdown in November 2009 on international banking transactions, when it instituted new reporting and verification requirements on all banks and financial institutions to prevent international money laundering.

PayPal isn’t working properly in India. eBay’s electronic payment juggernaut appears to be blocking personal transactions to or from accounts of India-based users. It is reversing personal transactions; transactions involving businesses are still allowed.

A reader checked in with us yesterday to let us know PayPal notified him that the company had stopped allowing personal payments to be sent to or from India (full e-mail can be found below).

This does not appear to be an isolated incident: see here, here and here for more reports, although we gather commercial payment transactions are unaffected at this point.

This is the standard notification e-mail people are receiving in their inbox:

Asked for more information, Binary Turf received a meatier but equally vague response from the customer service department:

The wording seems to suggest that this is a temporary decision, but it’s still unclear why the company decided to take such drastic measures with no prior warning on policy changes whatsoever, and why this appears to be occurring in India only.

We’ve contacted PayPal and will update when and if we hear back.

Update: Anuj Nayar, Director, Global Communications at PayPal tells us:

Guess we’ll have to wait until the issue is addressed.

To be held in Trondheim, Norway, on May 14, 2011, the World Beard and Moustache Championships is a big deal. A BIG DEAL. Apparently, the United States is the ‘world’s new facial hair super power, having captured twelve world championship titles out of eighteen categories plus overall at the World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska in 2009′. So if you have a good handlebar, if you can connect the dots, then the next major event in the ’sport of bearding will be the Beard Team USA Nationals in Bend, Oregon on June 5, 2010, where $5000 in cash prizes will go to best beards and moustaches in the USA’. Elmar stole the show at the WBMC 2005 when his tribute to the host city Berlin -- his beard styled to depict the world famous Brandenburg Gate -- earned him the world championship title in the full beard freestyle category.

In 2007 he repeated his championship performance, this time with his beard in the form of London's Tower Bridge.
Gunnar Rosenquist from Gothenburg, Sweden, burst onto the international beard scene at the 2006 European Championships in Amberg, Germany, where he took third in the full beard natural category, traditionally the most competitive. At the 2007 worlds in Brighton, England 2007, where ABBA won the Eurovision SongContest in 1984, he succeeded in taking the silver medal performance in the same category. Gunnar is a peacelover and also a Master of Science in Computer Engineering. He lives in the woods near Gothenburg with his woman and his daughter.

Jack Passion can rightfully claim to be the current world beard champion, having taken first place in the full beard natural category, the most competitive category of all, at the World Beard and Moustache Championships both in Brighton, England, in 2007 and in Anchorage, Alaska in 2009.

After his first win, Passion wrote The Facial Hair Handbook. The book is a fun and informative read for any man looking for tips on how to grow a beard, shape facial hair styles, stop your beard from itching, or even get a close shave.

At 25, Jack is younger than a lot of the beards in his category!

I have seen a large number FM transmitters being sold on eBay and Amazon for hefty prices. How would it sound if I actually save all your cost? Of course, it sounds nice. But, how are we going to do it? I believe most of us have WiFi routers installed and even Nokia 5800 has a WiFi and we connect our laptops/PC over WiFi. So, do you see the connection – ‘WiFi’? Yes, we will use WiFi to broadcast our music to our Nokia 5800.

Benefits of using WiFi over FM?

1) The audio quality is purely digital. No possible distortions as in FM transmission.
2) The audio transmission over WiFi is purely secure and no one else can listen to it unless you allow it. However, this depends on your WiFi network security i.e. it is not an open network. Even if it is open, it would be quite difficult to connect as you need the link for the audio stream.

In this guide, the instructions are provided where you will be able to transmit whatever audio you will play on your Winamp player to your Nokia 5800. The audio will automatically play on the Real Player in Nokia 5800.

Before we proceed further with the instructions, there are a few pre-requisites that we need –
Icecast Streaming Server – Download

Code:

	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:36px;">http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/icecast/icecast2_win32_2.3.2_setup.exe

Edcast Winamp Plug-in – Download

Code:

	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:36px;">http://www.oddsock.org/tools/edcast/edcast_winamp_3.1.21.exe

Note: Download the mp3 encoder here

Code:

	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:36px;">http://www.rarewares.org/files/mp3/lamedll_MOD3.98.2.zip

, unzip it and place it in “C:\Program Files\Winamp” folder.
Winamp Player v5.56 - Download [This is version that I have tested this on.]

Code:

	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:36px;">http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/client/winamp556_full_emusic-7plus_en-us.exe

Note: Allow access to these applications when prompted by the Firewall.

1. The very first step is to install the Winamp Player (Skip if you have it already installed). Then install the Icecast Streaming Server. Edcast Winamp plug-in is to be installed the last.

2. Once you have completed the installation, launch the Icecast Streaming Server. Click on the start button.

3. Launch Winamp Player. Go to Winamp Preferences -> Plug-ins -> DSP/Effect -> ‘edcast DSP v3’. As soon as you select it, the Edcast plug-in will get launched.

4. Click on the ADD ENCODER button on the Edcast plug-in interface. This will add a default entry into the encoder settings section.

Right click on the encoder entry and select configure.

5. Right click on the default encoder entry and click on ‘configure’. This will open another window.

6. While on the Basic Settings tab, make the selections as shown in the image below.

7. While on the YP Settings tab, make the selections as shown in the image below.

8. While on the Advanced Settings tab, make the selections as shown in the image below. Click on OK.

9. Now verify that the encoder entry under encoder settings on the Edcast interface shows MP3: 128 kbps/44100Hz/Stereo. Now select the ‘AutoConnect’ checkbox and click on Connect.

10. The Edcast interface should now say ‘/nokia5800blog.mp3’ or 'connected' in the encoder settings (Transfer Rate) section.

Once you start playing on the Winamp Player, the interface will look like this.

11. Play any track on winamp. Our Settings for the PC is done. We will now configure our Nokia.

use realplayer (streaming links option)

We all know about torrents and why they are so famous. Yes, now we have torrents downloading directly to our very own Nokia s60 phone. SymTorrent is a symbian S60 3rd Edition client that reads torrents and directly downloads the files to the memory card.

This application is originally designed for Nokia S60 3rd Edition and works very much for S60 5th Edition as well. I have tried this application on my own device and had excellent results. I have tested this application on a Wi-Fi connection and was able to get the maximum download speed as per allowed by my ISP’s bandwidth.

I would not suggest using this application for very huge and long downloads in terms of file size and time length because it may put a lot of pressure on the device’s hardware. But you can for sure use it for downloading MP3 files and other files that you may want.

You can download this application directly from the developer’s website for free. Download here--

Code:

	<pre class="bbcode_code"style="height:36px;">http://amorg.aut.bme.hu/projects/symtorrent/download

Installation Instructions – It is very easy to install like other applications that you have installed previously; however, there is a warning shown when installing this application saying that this application is not compatible with the device. Just ignore that warning and select YES to continue the installation. Also, make sure that you install the application on your memory card.

Another important fact is that you need to download the torrent files and have them saved on your memory card before starting this application because this application only runs the torrent and does not search them.

You can visit mininova.org on your phone's browser to download torrents.
